Rain Garden

In 2013, students worked with our field biologist to find a solution to prevent water from pooling around the school building. The idea that resulted was to create a rain garden. Begun in the spring of 2013 and completed in the fall of 2014, the rain garden project was led by high school and middle school students, with assistance from elementary students.

In the 2016-17 school year there are plans to revisit the rain garden project and make improvements. This effort will be led by the 2nd and 3rd grade students, along with middle school students and our field biologist. One of the initiatives for this revisit is to reduce the amount of curly dock that has made its home in the rain garden.
This site is made possible by a grant from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board. Thank you!
