Wetland
The Highland School District is lucky to have a variety of environments located on the school grounds, including a pond and wetland area. This area provides many educational opportunities both with our field biologist and with classroom teachers. Students have used the pond to explore geometric principles, such as surface area, circumference, and volume. With our field biologist, students have identified the macro invertebrates that live in the wetlands, explored the different calls being made by the American toads who call the space home, and worked to control the invasive species population in the area.
